Al Karamah Training Institute
Preparing for Adulthood (PFA)
At Al Karamah Training Institute, we are committed to supporting our students as they transition into adulthood. We do this by delivery of a comprehensive curriculum which incorporates the Preparing for Adulthood framework and the Autism Education Trust (AET) post 16 framework. The implementation of AKTI’s curriculum is designed to support significant personal and professional development, preparing students comprehensively for the transition into adulthood. The structured four-year approach, combined with practical workshops in Office and Administration, Hydroponics, Hospitality, Culinary skills and links to external partnerships, ensures that students are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experiences to lead fulfilling and successful adult lives.
Preparing for adulthood curriculum at AKTI involves:
- My Independence
- My Community
- Being Healthy and Active
- Employability
AKTI supports students between the ages of 14-25 years.
Students develop their maths, English and Arabic functional skills and work towards UK accredited training courses with recognised qualifications from UK awarding bodies. This currently includes the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) and National Open College Network (NOCN) and iGCSE.
We provide and explore different employment options, supporting students in their next steps beyond AKTI.
