AKTI Curriculum
We provide and explore different employment options, supporting students in their next steps beyond AKTI.
Al Karamah Training Institute Curriculum
Al Karamah Training Institute (AKTI) has a vision to:
“Create ambitious opportunities for employability and independence through our curriculum, job opportunities and work experiences. We will reduce barriers so that students of determination can flourish”.
AKTI’s socially inclusive education approach enables all students the opportunity to be part of a community and has been designed to empower autistic individuals on their journey to reach positive destinations in adult life.
Preparing for adulthood at AKTI involves;
- Higher Education and/or employment – we explore work experience options and employability and careers through our curriculum opportunities.
- Independent living – this means young people having choice, control and freedom over their lives and the support they have, their accommodation and living arrangement, including supported living.
- Participating in society – including having friends and supportive relationships, and participating in, and contributing to, the local community.
- Being as healthy as possible in adult life.
Employability and Careers at AKTI
At AKTI we teach Employability skills which provide students with the skills, attributes and behaviours that are needed to enter and succeed in the world of work. Functional Arabic, Islamic, literacy and numeracy skills are core to our curriculum and students are supported to apply these to work experience opportunities and employment.
Work experience includes opportunities in the areas of;
- Hospitality
- Office Administration
- Health and Safety
- Teaching support
- Horticulture
- Information Technology
- Culinary
We also work with partners and, where it is suitable for the student, we support finding work experience and employment opportunities.
Students work towards accreditations with recognized qualifications from UK awarding bodies. This currently includes Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) and National Open College Network (NOCN).
